Guv cites COA role on anti corruption campaign

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The provincial chief executive recently cited the role of the Commission on Audit (COA) on anti corruption campaign by the government particularly in the use of public funds to various projects.

Governor Lilia “Nanay”  Pineda said that COA's main thrust is to ensure accuracy and transparency in government transactions

This according to Pineda would contribute in the elimination of corruption in the delivery services in the province covering various municipalities and barangays.

With this, she suggested the holding of a special training for the local elected officials on  procurement rules, implementation of budgets, disbursements, basic accounting and other matters involving preparation of financial reports.

“If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear and instead you will appreciate the good intention of the COA as they only want government transactions fair, just and transparent. That’s what I want – good governance,” Pineda said.

Pineda also encouraged all local government officials to follow the rules and regulation and requirement of the commission on audit for clean and honest to goodness government operations.

“This is to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the official government transactions being signed and undertaken by the local executives in the province, towns and villages in the implementation of projects and programs for the benefit of the Kapampangans. At para hindi na pabalik-balik at paulit ang mga kinakailangang requirements at dokumento,” she stated.

The governor explained that the presence of a  fair COA audit will prevent corrupt officials from squandering public funds.
